The Fitzgerald Opens 226 Apartments on Bexley's Main Street
The Fitzgerald Bexley apartments opened Aug. 14 with 226 units on a former seminary site, plus 11,000 sq ft of retail and 12,500 sq ft of office space.

The Fitzgerald, a mixed-use building by Continental Development Ventures, opened August 14 at 2200 E. Main St. in Bexley, delivering 226 apartments on a roughly three-acre former Trinity Lutheran Seminary site, along with about 23,500 square feet of restaurant, retail, and office space and a 300-space structured parking garage.
From seminary apartments to 226 homes
The three-acre site at 2200 E. Main St. had previously held apartment buildings associated with Trinity Lutheran Seminary. Continental Development Ventures, a Columbus-based firm, acquired the site and secured approvals from the City of Bexley, which maintains an official project page documenting the development.
The new building holds studio through three-bedroom apartments across its residential floors. Coastal Ridge Real Estate—a Columbus-founded company managing more than 43,000 apartment and student housing units nationally—handles leasing and day-to-day operations, according to the company's public profile. Regional Manager Brittany Neff represented Coastal Ridge at the August 14 ribbon-cutting in the building's main courtyard.
Listing databases show rental pricing starting around $1,432 for smaller units and ranging higher for three-bedroom layouts, per Redfin.
What 23,500 square feet of commercial space might bring
The building's ground floor holds roughly 11,000 square feet of restaurant and retail space facing E. Main St. An additional 12,500 square feet of office space occupies upper commercial floors. No tenants for that commercial portion have been announced publicly as of this writing, per the PR Newswire grand-opening release.
That 23,500 square feet is among the larger additions to Bexley's retail and office inventory in recent years. E. Main St. through downtown Bexley already hosts an established strip of locally owned restaurants, specialty retailers, and service businesses. New ground-floor space at this scale creates room for uses that haven't found a foothold there before—or for expansions by existing tenants.
300 parking spaces in a walkable neighborhood
The Fitzgerald sits steps from Capital University, a private liberal arts college on E. Main St. The campus generates steady pedestrian traffic on the corridor during the academic year.
The 300-space structured garage is notable for a location that is walkable by Bexley standards. That capacity likely reflects the combined load: retail customers, office tenants, and residents all drawing from the same structure. For the ground-floor commercial spaces, on-site parking removes a common friction point for businesses that depend on customer arrivals by car.
What more residents mean for the neighborhood
Adding 226 households to a compact, walkable neighborhood changes the arithmetic for nearby businesses. More residents walking to dinner on E. Main St., or stopping for coffee on the way to work, matters more to a neighborhood-scale retail district than the same number of households scattered across a suburb.
Whether that materializes depends on who occupies the commercial floors. A full-service restaurant or daily-needs retailer would plug directly into Bexley's existing pattern. Office tenants add daytime activity without the same evening foot traffic.
The Fitzgerald is the latest addition to Bexley's development pipeline, which has attracted Columbus-area developers looking for established neighborhoods with room to add density near transit and walkable amenities.
