Micro Center will hold a grand reopening on August 22 at its flagship Columbus store on Bethel Road after a major remodel that expanded its computer-building and AI-hardware sections, the company said. The retailer, founded in Columbus in 1979, kept the store open throughout construction.

What Changed Inside the Store

The remodel at 747 Bethel Road added an expanded Build Your Own department for shoppers assembling their own PCs, a new Ubiquiti networking experience center, and a larger 3D-printer display area, according to Micro Center's press release. The store also added hardware built for AI development work, including Blackwell-based graphics cards, and an upgraded Knowledge Bar with a dedicated build-experience desk.

A Homegrown Chain Marks Another Chapter

Micro Center opened its first store on Lane Avenue in 1979, and the chain now runs 30 stores nationwide from its corporate headquarters in nearby Hilliard. The Bethel Road store serves as Micro Center's flagship location near its Hilliard headquarters, in a company that has grown from a single storefront into a national electronics chain.

What to Expect on Reopening Day

The reopening runs from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on August 22, with live product builds, giveaways for the first customers in line, and gift cards for the first 1,000 shoppers, the company said. Customers who sign up in advance can also claim a free 128GB flash drive and a store mug. Because the location stayed open through the remodel, the reopening event marks a debut for the finished space rather than a return from a temporary closure.
